Dr. No Sponsored by Mithoff Burton Partners 1962 | Not Rated | Action, Adventure | d. Terence Young Sean Connery, Ursula Andress, Joseph Wiseman | |
| The first film in the “most successful movie franchise of all time” unveiled Ian Fleming’s iconic British secret agent with a deck of cards and three little words: “Bond. James Bond.” Code named 007 and licensed to kill, the suave and deadly character has sustained movie-goers for decades. In his first big-screen outing, Bond must infiltrate the secret domain of a criminal mastermind bent on world domination, and stop him (sound familiar). A huge boxoffice hit, Dr. No starred Sean Connery as the franchise’s first (and best) James Bond and introduced all the key elements: a “Bond Girl”, a bigger-than-life villain, magnificent stunt work, colorful locations and the memorable “James Bond theme” by composer Monty Norman. The Plaza Theatre was the showcase for the original theatrical run in April, 1963! - JD | ||
